Merry xmas,All the window cleaners i know all work through the christmas and new year period if we can get out to work due to the cold weather we are having at the moment..

How cold is it in your area ?

I was once told that a professional window cleaner is not too bothered by the weather.

Do you get to use any hand tools ( Squeegees ) or is that now a thing of the past.

If your doing large properties and hotels, do you also clean internally.

The customer that requested a £30 reduction in their bill, how did she justify this request ( Cheek !).

Happy New Year Robert. I still use hand tools for cleaning insides Fessy, i usually buy these from windowcleaningwarehouse as surecleansystems sell mainly waterfed pole equipment only. The woman who asked for the large reduction in price said that a window cleaner called with her and said he would clean them cheaper! Ive found through the years that these kind of window cleaners dont last very long, they are like ships in the night.However, when this woman calls me in a few months time to ask me to come back, my price will have increased, she can take it or leave it!

I totally agree with you; consumers have been spoilt by these business tactics applied by certain companies, and when it all falls down they expect you pick things up.

I have always been a believer in buy cheap buy twice.

Like a lot of other areas do you get a large number of window cleaners that only work when the weather is pleasing (What I call sesonal window cleaners).
I was lead to believe that these type of window cleaner, when quoting for jobs they really hammer the prices on the jobs = How do you combat this situation, if you do have the problem

Under cutting is very bad practice in my opinion! Ive had customers say to me " A window cleaner called with me and said he can clean my windows for x amount less! I politely tell them thanks for their past custom and walk away, 9 times out of 10 they'll call me back and forget they ever talked to the other window cleaner! I clean windows in all but the most severe weather and my customers know what to expect from the start, im not a fair weather window cleaner. I have a beanie hat Fessy but its not an Ettore one im afraid. Why, have you got any free samples?
Ps, there are 2 things in particular you should never buy on the cheap
1) Boots or shoes
2) A Window cleaning service

Did you have a heavy night seeing in 2009 and are suffering for it, having to work today Friday 2nd of Jan.

I totally agree with your statement on buying cheap.

How do you see 2009 with window cleaning business and this economical state; do you feel like others that, the begining will be difficult, while the later part of the may get a little smoother.

I had way too much alcohol Fessy, getting back to normal now though. How was your New year? On the economical state subject ! I had a hotel window cleaning contract suspended today, the hotel people said they will be closing for a couple of months until things pick up! I reckon itll be closed for an awful lot longer than two months, its the beginning of the end!
