i am in stockport but all my work is in tameside we are water fed on tops and traditional on bottoms i find this better as the one on a ladder can bring in the bottoms and flat roofs but we do all lead by water fed much easier this is the best time of the year as the tips start to rolling in has this credit crunch affected your work jd

I dont see why you just dont clean both bottom and top with the waterfed pole Jay! Thankfully the credit crunch hasnt really done my business any harm, you know yourself, you lose one customer on one hand and gain two in the other. If your looking for great advice and tips jay, then check out ukcleaningforum. Hope to see you on there soon.

Hi fish4fun

The sooner you take the plunge and move over to wfp, the safer and financially better off you will be. Seriously mate, dump those ladders, one fall and you could be history!

Most of my work is from the ladder so i have never tried anything else and also it is mostly houses i clean.
Also i have not got a clue about the waterfed system.

Its the easiest thing in the world to work with Rab, i had the same reservations at first. As long as you post a little letter in your customers door , just to explain the new system youll be moving over to. Customers will be unconvinced as well to begin with but youll be pleasantly surprised how quickly both you and your customers get used to it. And remember, country to popular belief, usually from those who have never tried wfp, it does a great streak free job. I have not lost one customer, ive actually gained a lot more.

Is it not a pain(pardon the pun) filling the water container or containers everyday.

I now have a 500ltr van system and i use approx 300 ltrs of water per day. I keep a 1000ltr static tank in my back garden and just run a pump and hose from that , straight into my van tank. It only takes about 30mins to refill again and im ready for the next days work

Jd,Once you run the water through The ro system can you use that water on the windows straight away or do you have to filter it with a resin before use.

Hi fish4fun. No, you need to run it through your resin, and that will bring down the water TDS reading to zero. My water TDS reading goes into my van tank at about 10 - 15 ppm and after it goes through my resin, its down to zero. It depends as well on whether you live in a hard or soft water area, i live in a very hard water area, so i need to run my filtered water through a resin canister as well. If you live in a soft water area, then your unlikely to need the resin part of it, and if your really lucky and live in a place like Devon, then your tap water reading could be as low as 40 ppm. My tap reading is between 220 & 230 ppm!!!!!!!!!!!!

Fish4fun , i think you may be onto something there, not to mention Devon make great scones i hear. Theyd go down nicely with a pint of tennents. The Scots and the Irish are similar in almost everything. Hard water, rainy weather, friendly and most of all "A love for are English neighbours". Well, they aint all bad im sure.

Hey JD,

We ain't all bad in England you know, scones in Devon are cracking - and being a boy who originates from Bradford but now resides in Huddersfield we have our own great culinary tradition - CURRY !!!!

Goes down an absolute treat with a pint of the blackstuff - (which by the way, is nothing in England compared to a pint of it over in the Emerald Isles !!!)

Am partial to a wee dram of whiskey also - not bothered which to be honest, like Irish but you can't go wrong with a drop of single malt from the Isles of Scotland also !!

Now your talking Mark. The next time your having a wee dram, try Glenmorangie single malt. Its not often you get it in the bar, its a bit more expensive than the bog standard whiskies. But if you havent tried it, give it a tasting.By the way, i love a nice curry , could you post a Bradford special over to Ireland?

Thanks for the tip on the single malt - will bear that in mind !!

I'd love to post on over to you JD - you haven't had a curry til you've tried one from Bradford, best thing about them too is that there mega cheap - hardly gone up in price over the last 4-5 years, if you go to an authentic curry house in Bradford you'll still only pay between £3.50 and £4.50 for a curry.

If you are ever over in West Yorkshire drop me a line and I will take you on a curryfest !!

Hi Mark, you could start a great debate on who has the best curries in the uk.
Glasgow has been at the top for years and is wwell known for its curries with charan gill one of the best chefs in the uk..
Still like to wash the curry down with a pint or two.

Hi Fish4fun,

You learn someting new everyday - I wasn't aware Scotland was famed for a good curry!!

The only things I see on TV being associated with Scottish cuisines are haggis, neeps and tatties, (which I like!!) and deep fried pizza and mars bar (which I don't fancy trying!!)

Definitely go arm in arm though - curry and beer !!

I once tried a curry down in Kent and it wasn't my cup of tea to be honest with you, nothing like what we get up here, it's what you're used to I suppose.

Birmingham is supposed to be good though also

birmingham has a lot of different cultures so you can get good indian restaraunts there alongside other good asian restaraunts.
Have tried a curry when i was passing through birmingham and yes it was pretty good..

Hi Fish4fun,

The more on here the better to share experiences, expertise etc - we can all benefit that way.

It's good to hear stories and hints of tips of experts in their field, it's a fountain of knowledge that can only improve with the more members that give their input!!

It's time to spread the word on the ETTORE FORUM.......!!!!!!!!

Good Luck my fellow forumer!!
